Hi, I'm Pip. Pick what you want to practise above, tell me the role, and we'll start. One question at a time, then a score and a better version of your answer.

The application, stage by stage

Most graduate roles run the same five rounds.

The order changes between employers. Knowing what each round is testing tells you what to practise next.

  1. Stage 1

    Application

A CV or resume, a cover letter, sometimes written questions. In Australia, public-sector roles often add selection criteria.

    Check your CV
  2. Stage 2

    Online tests

Numerical, verbal, logical and situational judgement tests, usually timed and often sent within days of applying.

    Try a timed set
  3. Stage 3

    Video interview

Recorded answers to set questions, or a live call. Few people practise saying their answers out loud, which is why this stage catches them.

    Run a mock
  4. Stage 4

    Assessment centre

Group exercises, a presentation, a case study and more interviews, in person or online, often across most of a day.

  5. Stage 5

    Final interview

Examples from your own life, told clearly. The STAR structure carries most of the weight here.

A sample round, shortened

You answer. Pip marks it and shows you a stronger version.

This is a sample we wrote to show the format. Every round uses your role and your own answer. Pip asks one question at a time, marks what you said against what the question was after, then asks the next.

How a mock interview works

PipTell me about a time you had to change your plan because something went wrong.

YouIn my final-year project my supplier fell through two weeks before the deadline, so I found another one and we finished on time. I think I am good at staying calm.

Pip3 / 5. You have a real problem and a result, which is the hard part. What is missing is what you personally did. "Found another one" skips the part an interviewer is listening for. How did you find them, and what did you have to give up?

PipA stronger version: "Two weeks out, our supplier cancelled. I rang six others, chose the one who could deliver in eight days, and cut one test from our plan so we still had time. We submitted on the day and scored 72%." Now, say it back in your own words.

CV check

Marked up like a careers adviser with a highlighter.

Paste a few lines. Pip works through them one at a time, says what a recruiter would skim past and asks for the missing number. It never invents one.

AfterServed about 150 customers a shift and trained two new starters on the till.

Questions

What people ask first.

What is Graduate Chat?

Graduate Chat (graduate.chat) is a practice site for people going for their first graduate job in the UK or Australia. You talk to Pip, an AI practice partner, who runs mock interviews, gives test practice and checks your CV line by line. The timed test sets on the site run in your browser.

Is Pip a real person?

No. Pip is an AI. There is nobody behind the chat, and the site never asks for your contact details. It can get things wrong, so check anything that matters with the employer.

Does Pip know what my employer will ask?

No. Pip has no inside knowledge of any employer's questions, tests or deadlines. It practises the kinds of questions and tests graduates commonly face. For the real process, read what the employer sends you.

Can Pip write my CV for me?

Pip edits what you give it, line by line, and asks when a number or a detail is missing. It will not invent experience, grades or results, because you would have to defend them in an interview.

Can I use it during a real test?

No. Pip will not help with a live test or a real assessment. Use it to get ready beforehand, and answer the real thing yourself.

What happens to what I type?

Conversations are deleted within 24 hours and are not linked to your name. Messages go to an AI model provider to write the reply, so leave out your name, phone number and address. The full detail is on the privacy page.
